Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Types of papers that are expected

CybIN accepts the following types of papers (in French or English, English is preferred for technical papers to ensure a wider audience):

• Long papers (or otherwise regular papers, describing original research, 6 to 15 pages)
• Review articles (6 to 12 pages)
• Position papers (work in progress or expressing an opinion on an issue, 4 to 10 pages)
• Short notes
• Technical notes
• Book reviews
• Notes on legal decisions

Topic areas to be covered

The subject area of interest of CybIN covers all areas related to the fight against cybercrime and digital investigations, and includes the following topics:

• Digital forensics
• Network investigations
• Incident response
• Law
• Other human sciences such as psychology, criminology, economics, etc.

Format of the documents

First submission for review

When first submitting a paper for review, it should be provided in one of the following electronic formats: PDF, ODT, DOC/DOCX. To allow for blind peer review, all indications of the authors should be removed in the content of the document and in its properties.

To ease the future editorial process, you can use the below mentioned templates, but please do not include any names and affiliations of authors, again for blind peer review.

Edition, once the paper is accepted

If you have been successful, you will be asked to provide your paper in the proper formatting using one of the following templates:

• LaTeX (.ZIP) (including a PDF compiled version)
• Word (.DOCX)
• LaTeX for Botconf 2023 (.ZIP) (including a PDF compiled version)
• Word for Botconf 2023 (.DOCX)

We do have a preference for the LaTeX format.
